MECHANICAL ALIGMENT

Determine and adjust the relative position of two machines that are connected, such as a motor and a pump, so that rotational centre of the shaft are collinear, when the machines are working in a normal operating condition. Correction of horizontal shaft alignment is done by moving the front and the rear pair of one machine’s feet, vertically and horizontally, until the shaft are aligned to within given tolerances.
